ALVIN HICKS
ALVIN HICKS Assistant Pre-Apprentice Carpentry Instructor & Environmental Instructor

Mr. Alvin (Al) Hicks has been working in the construction & environmental industry for more than 10 years.  After several years of working within the industry, Al decided to start using his knowledge to help other Detroiters attain their own success.  Alvin chose to obtain all the certifications necessary to begin instructing.  Al’s licensing includes OSHA 30-hour construction safety, contractor/supervisor and inspector licenses, lead training, Michigan builders pre-licensure, 40-hour Hazwoper, heavy equipment training and CDL training.

While Alvin is not a native-Detroiter, he has adopted Detroit as his home and is extremely passionate about training Detroiters to work in the skilled trades.  Al has been working with Emerging Industries Training Institute as our assistant carpentry instructor and asbestos abatement instructor since early 2018 and has quickly become an integral part of the EITI family.  Alvin has a strong sense of family and an outstanding work ethic and that carries over into every aspect of his training.  In addition to working with EITI, Al has recently started his own abatement company and plans to hire and support EITI graduates in the future.
